CNC Machinist

Ultra Industries is a fast-paced job shop looking for highly skilled machinists to help us grow. We run a variety of materials, the majority of which are aluminum, mild steel, 4130, and 300 series stainless steel. We are seeking individuals who are self-motivated, reliable, have a team attitude, and are able to solve problems independently. At Ultra, we are a low-volume, high-mix shop. Our current part runs are around 10-15 parts, but the majority of our runs are 1-3 pcs. Our current customer base is in the following industries – 40% automation, 20% aviation, 20% defense, 15% custom, and 5% machine building.

10. The first shift receives home-cooked breakfast made for you fresh every day at 8:30 AM in our fully functional break room with all stainless steel appliances. The break room includes a stove, oven, microwave, full-size refrigerator, and dishwasher. All dishes, pots, pans, etc., are here for your convenience.
11. Our game room is attached to our break room for your enjoyment. It has a pool table, a foosball table, cribbage, and cards. You are welcome to play any other games of your liking.
12. Summer and wintertime fun involves closing up shop early a couple of times a year and heading down to the river on the owner’s boat to grill and chill. We also do go-cart competitions at Prokart in Maple Grove to unwind and generate some healthy competition. Other suggestions are always welcome.
13. Aggressive bonus program. Employees can earn up to 15% of their yearly compensation. We base it on merits and team playing. The more efficient and productive you work for the bottom line, the bigger your bonus. Bonuses are paid out in December of every year. We have not missed paying out one in the past 20 years. The second shift also receives differential pay.
14. Internal hiring. At Ultra, we are a rapidly growing company. With our proven growth plan, anyone currently employed or in the next year or two will have the first opportunity for the following positions as they arise: quality inspectors, management, programmers, buyers, job processors, estimators, and other office personnel needed to keep up with our growth.
15. At Ultra, you will learn to go from print to final inspection on a wide range of custom projects. You will do many different tasks that are typically independent of each other in most shops. Through what you see and do, you will become a more confident and well-rounded machinist.
